The SOS Children's Village runs its own kindergarten, called "Dongchon Kindergarten", which is also open to children from the neighbourhood. All the children attend the local elementary schools and the secondary schools in the city. There is also an SOS Youth Facilities for boys and for girls. These facilities accommodate the young people from the SOS Children's Village who are doing vocational training or continuing their schooling. The move to the SOS Youth House is the first step towards independence. In 1999, an SOS Social Centre was built on the site of SOS Children's Village Daegu. The existing SOS Kindergarten moved into this building, which also houses an Educational Therapy Centre. This centre offers therapy for up to 80 children with psychological and behavioural problems.
