The SOS Children's Village consists of 15 family houses, a Community House, a Director's Residence, a Mosque and co-workers quarter. In 1986 an SOS Youth Facility was established. There is also a training workshop, and a dispensary was added in 1993.
The children from the SOS Children's Village attend the SOS Hermann Gmeiner School was opened in 1991. Only a small part of the pupils live at the SOS Children's Village. The other children come from under-privileged areas. At first, the school was only a primary school but in 1993 a secondary school was added. On 12 March 2000 the extended SOS Hermann Gmeiner School in Lahore was officially re-opened by the Pakistani President, Mr Pervez Musharraf. The older boys from the SOS Children's Village usually move to the SOS Youth Village, which offers accommodation to 50 young people who are still attending school or college or doing vocational training. For these boys, this is the first step towards independence.
In 2000, the Pakistani government donated land for the new building of its National Office in Lahore.
