With its eight family houses, a Community House and additional buildings the SOS Children's Village Punkaharju is one of Finland's largest SOS Children's Villages. The houses are built in the traditional style of this area and fit harmoniously into the landscape. Thanks to the location of the Village, the children have many opportunities to exercise, do sports and play games. A secondary school and a high school are just within walking distance from the Village, and the children attend these local schools. Furthermore, there are vocational schools and a university campus in the city of Savonlinna, which is situated 35 kilometers from Punkaharju.
The various happenings in the Village create a feeling of togetherness and are good support in the upbringing and socializing of the children. Hospitality is a natural part of the life in the Village, whether the visitors are relatives, Finnish friends or international co-workers.
